Webster Love

June 10, 1933 — January 5, 2021

Concord

Webster Brodus Love, 87, of Concord, NC, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021, after months of declining health.

Webster was born on June 10, 1933 in Mecklenburg County to the late Clyde and Pearl Love. Webster was saved when he was 16 years old and has lived his life serving God ever since. When he was not at church or work, he spent his time manicuring the yard, raising foster children, and enjoying his family. One thing people always knew about his home is that it was always open to anyone who needed it. Despite the changing times, he never locked his door and no knock or doorbell was ever expected. Everyone walked right in and made themselves right at home. He would insist you have a glass to drink and a meal or snack and he wouldn’t take no for an answer-true Southern hospitality.

Webster embodied his last name-Love. He loved people. He loved to share and listen to stories of others and win the lost for Christ. He loved the Concord Fire Department and the firefighters that he worked beside of each day as they brought him tremendous joy. He loved good ole’ Gospel singing, watching Channel 9 news, and keeping a clean home. He will always be remembered for the love he has shown for others.

Webster is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Love; his parents, Clyde and Pearl Love; his daughter, Myra Long; and his brothers, Mynor, Homer, Billy, Gerald, and Bobby Love. Those left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Clyde Jr., and Troy of Concord and David of Davidson. His children: Wesley Love and wife, Melissa Love of Tennessee; Alicia Hammel and husband, Bob Hammel of Concord; Richard Love of Concord; Lesli Salley and husband, Mike Salley of N. Myrtle Beach, SC; and James W Cooper, Jr of Concord. His Grandchildren, in which he adored: Jade Bittle and husband, Todd Bittle of Landis; Forrest Love of Tennessee; Cody Hammel and wife, Hannah Hammel of New London; Bryan Long of Salisbury; Daniel Long of Colorado; and Suzanne Gilliam of Rockwell. Lastly, His Great Grandchildren: Olivia and Shepherd Bittle, Brooklyn, Akaysia and Elora Love, Levi Hammel, David and Marie Long, Gavin Marlin, and Xander and Willow Gillam.
