Sarah Burleson

Sarah Moore Hatley Burleson, 87, of Albemarle, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Sarah was born June 5, 1933 in Stanly County to the late Claude Wilford Hatley and Ruth Coggin Hatley. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Max Newell Burleson; and brother, Blythe Hatley.

The family graveside service to celebrate her life will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Canton Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Richard Carlisle. She will lie in state from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm on Saturday at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle for friends to pay their respects without the family present.

She is survived by her daughters, Renee (Eddie) Funderburk of Norwood, Sherry Dennis of Albemarle; four grandchildren, Carli Butler, Abby Mullis, Dr. Jarrod (Susan) Dennis,  Ryan (Nicole) Dennis; nine great-grandchildren, Laney Butler, Lily Mullis, Eli Dye, Renee Dye, Amelia Dennis, Ava Dennis, Lucas Dennis, Ellie Kate Dennis, and Jones Dennis.

Sarah will be remembered for her sweet and gentle nature. She loved to cook and have her family over for Sunday lunch. She was a member of Poplin Grove Baptist Church.
