Roy Helms

Roy Eugene Helms, 74 years of age, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at his home.

Roy was born February 24, 1943 in Union County to the late Vade Warren Helms and the late Betty Starnes Helms.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ailene Strawn and Shirley Helms.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, August 21, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be on Tuesday at 3:00 pm at Shiloh Advent Christian Church in Monroe and will be officiated by Rev. Travis Hutcheson. Burial will follow at the Shiloh Advent Christian Church Cemetery at 3601 Sikes Mill Rd., Monroe.

Survivors include wife of 51 years, Martha Ruth Helms of Monroe; son, David (Dawn) Helms of Monroe; three granddaughters, Lauren (David) Mercer of Polkton, Taylor Helms of Monroe, and Leslie Helms of Monroe; two brothers, Claude Helms of Stanfield, and Jimmy Helms of Myrtle Beach, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
