Phillip was a loving husband, father and Pawpaw. He was a friend to all who knew him. Born and raised in Bluff City TN, he moved to NC when he was 20. He became a top-notch auto painter by profession. Phil loved to help people, but hated to ask for help ~ After retiring and even while sick he would make it a point to help his neighbors by mowing their grass or helping when he was able. During the Holidays, he would make it a priority to see that the all the children in his neighborhood (not just his own) had food and presents. He loved Nascar, the lake, and cook-outs with friends and family. He was not a man of many emotions or outward words, but he loved people and was deeply loved.
Survivors include wife, Peggy Sue Grindstaff; daughters, Robin Davis and Sheila (Kevin) Cero of Concord, NC.; grandchildren Maranda, Rebecca, Codie, Kaylee, Briana, and Dallas; and great grandchildren Hendrix, Ellie and one on the way.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Peggy Sue to assist with the funeral expenses.
