Medrick Milton Chandler, Sr., 91, of Midland, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023, at McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe.
Medrick was born November 20, 1931, in Schenectady, New York, to the late Glenn and Mildred Chandler. Medrick was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Annabella Savino Chandler; and brother, Glenn Chandler.
Medrick was a veteran of the United States Navy and a retired New York State Trooper. He was the Director of Security at University of Tampa in the early 1970s. Medrick also retired from Central Piedmont Community College. As a lifelong learner, he had a multitude of knowledge and interest in everything. Medrick was a jack of all trades, but master of none, a quality his children shared (playing bagpipes, building a canoe and fallout shelter). He will be remembered as a history buff and being adventurous. Most of all, Medrick was a loving and devoted Dad and Grandpa.
Survivors include son, Steven Chandler (Marlene)of Stanfield; daughter, Jean Chandler Wesselman (Gaye Dimmick) of Charlotte; Medrick Chandler, Jr. (Tonda) of Gold Hill; Suzanne Chandler of Waxhaw; daughter, Laurinda Still of Midland; grandchildren, Tim, Lisa and Jade; great-grandchildren, Kylee, Connor, Emma and Lola.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Carolina Memorial Park Kannapolis, officiated by Rev. Gaye Dimmick.
