Marlo Antonio Bocanegra Polo

Marlo Antonio Bocanegra Polo, 42, of Concord, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 4, 2020 in Princeton, NJ.

Monito was born June 9, 1978 in Barranquilla, Colombia to Luis Orlando Bocanegra and Fanny Del Socorro Polo.  In addition to his father, Marlo was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Graciela Soto de Polo.

Monito loved spending time with his family, especially with his pinche-Lupe.  It was important to him for family to be together.  He also enjoyed cookouts and drinking a cold beer with his brothers.  He made friends easily and left a footprint on everyone who knew him.  Monito was well-known for being very friendly and a party animal.  He had a very big heart and was very generous, always helping others.  You could always count on him.  He was an authentic husband, brother, uncle and friend.  Monito loved listening to Vallenato.  He enjoyed playing soccer as a little boy and was a fan of Junior (tu Papa) en la selecion Colombia.

Survivors include beloved wife of 8 years, Maria Atilano De Bocanegra; mother, Fanny Del Socorro Polo De Bocanegra of Colombia; sister, Peggy T. Bocanegra of Kannapolis; brothers, Giovanny O. Bocanegra and wife, Darly De Bocanegra of Kannapolis, Frank E. Lleras of Florida and Jimmy Gomez and wife, Angelica, of South Carolina; nephews, Jonathan Meza, Giovanny De Jesus Bocanegra and Angel D. Bocanegra; nieces, Kelly T. Bocanegra and Emma Lleras; cousins, Alex Rodriguez and wife, Johanna; cousin, Katherin Saavedra and husband, Carlos; and cousin, Fanny Polo.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, Friday, July 10, 2020 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord.  The funeral mass will follow at 1:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kannapolis, officiated by Father Fabio.
