Marceline Lee

Marceline Gay Marlow Lee, 95, of Concord, NC, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

Mrs. Lee was born in Concord, NC on April 16,1927 to Wallace Bryant Marlow and Kathleen Lippard Marlow, the oldest of three children. She graduated from Concord High School in 1944. Gay spent almost the entirety of her life living in Concord, where she met her husband William Boyd Lee, a World War II purple heart veteran. Gay and Boyd raised two children, one son, Bennie Michael McClellan, and one daughter, Sharon Lee Kiser.

Gay worked at Gibson Mill for many years before becoming a homemaker and helper to her husband in his auto parts business. She was an active member at Broadus Memorial Baptist Church until her health necessitated worshiping from home.

Gay and her husband kept a second home at Oak Island, NC that she visited as often as she could over the last 20 years. They had the home built as a respite and gathering spot for family. Mrs. Lee enjoyed many summers of joyful family time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at Oak Island.

She is survived by her son Michael McClellan (Janice) of Concord, her daughter Sharon Kiser (Ron) of Concord, grandson Philip D Kiser (Nicole) of Mooresville, granddaughter Marcia K Simeon (Paul) of Cornelius, granddaughter Allison M Christy (Ryan) of Lexington, and 8 great grandchildren including Madison Christy, Carter Simeon, Layla Simeon, Brianne Christy, Oliver Simeon, Annalynn Christy, Arwen Kiser and Gunnar Kiser. Preceding her in death was her husband William Boyd Lee, grandson Andrew Bryant McClellan, sister Francis Marlow Wade and brother Jimmy Clark Marlow.

Visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home, 460 Branchview Dr. NE, Concord, NC 28025 on Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 12:30 pm to 2 pm, with the funeral immediately following. Burial service to follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
