Louis James Tucker Sr., 87, of Midland, beloved father, grandfather, and friend passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Tucker was born October 28, 1932 to the late Hazel Lee Tucker Sr. and the late Bertie Mae Tucker.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by wife, Doris Barrier Tucker; daughter, Pamela Hatcher; sister, Carolyn Fritts; brothers, Hazel Tucker (Ruth), Dan Tucker (Helen), and Perry Tucker; brothers-in-law, James Belangia and Bob Fisher.
Louis was a man of integrity, and a strong believer in hard work, family, and craftsmanship. He traveled North America with his father and brothers building a career as a master brick mason, specializing in high quality brick kiln construction. Although his work took him to distant locations, he always loved being home in North Carolina with his family and friends. Louis enjoyed spending most of his time outside and was an avid gardener, outdoorsman, and small engine mechanic. He loved sharing stories of his travels and lifetime of knowledge with younger generations to inspire and educate. Louis will be deeply missed by all who shared life with him, and his spirit will live on in their fond memories.
Survivors include son, Louis James Tucker, II (Jill); grandson, Anthony Hatcher (Leah); granddaughter, Crystal Tucker; sister, Isabell Belangia; brother, Bob Tucker (Gail); sisters-in-law, Shelia Tucker and Anne Fisher. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 -2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Howells Baptist Church. The funeral service will be on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Howells Baptist Church in Concord officiated by Pastor Edward “Buster” Pigg and Pastor Andy Downs. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
