This is the story of Linda Kiker Shaffer (Spider). Linda was a wonderful woman that was loved, is missed, and will forever be cherished. Our mother had such a big spirit. She had such a big personality and the sweetest heart! “Maw-Maw” as she liked to be called by her grandchildren. She called everyone “Baby”, “Honey”, or “Sweetheart” as mom loved everyone and did not meet a stranger.

Linda grew up at Route 2 McLester Road, Oakboro. Linda’s nickname growing up was “Spider”. Harvey and Lena Kiker were the parents of Linda, as Linda was the third child of five. Sister Clair, brother Loyde, sister Brenda, and sister Elaine. The family lived beside of the most loving family, Paul, Bert and daughter Shirley Hinson. Paul and Bert were like second parents to mom and her siblings. Mom spoke of the great memories she had as a child living next door to Paul and Bert. Mom told many funny stories of her childhood growing up with Shirley, and helping work on the farm. Paul said mom was so tiny that he was just going to call her “Spider”! Well it stuck and this forever became mom’s cute nickname.

Linda loved children! The little ones who always called her “Maw-Maw” and took to her as their own grandmother. Josh Mabry, Arianna Mabry, and Skyler Lubbe.

Jeffrey Carpenter you were truly mom's “grandson” and she had many laughs with you watching movies, (even when you fell asleep), going out to eat, and you caring for her when she came home from the hospital. Jeffrey you were her friend, sidekick, tag along, and the best neighbor to be they’re when she needed you.

The memories will forever be in our hearts! You were the greatest mother who was fun but could stop all three of your children with the “Look of the Momma Eyes”. We will forever cherish the laughter, tears, serious moments and vacations that we shared with you.

We Will Forever Love You Mom!
