Larry Barbee

Larry James Barbee, 80, of Concord, passed away Monday, June 6, 2022.

Larry was born June 28, 1941, in Concord to the late J.B. Barbee and the late Nell Adams Barbee.  He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Barbee; son, Jimmy Barbee; and sister, Iris Lambert.

Larry served in the United States Army.  He was a mechanic stationed in Stuttgart, Germany, during the Cold War.  He continued his loved for auto mechanics at Thurston & Estes. He retired from Estes, only to pick up part-time work at the BP in Concord (73/Central).  Larry loved westerns, reading and watching them.  Whenever you stopped by his house, football was always on.  His life was full of love for his family, his dogs, and his coffee.

Survivors include daughter, Anita (Sam) Jordan; step-daughters, Tonya (Mike) Staton and Tammy (Mark) Arrington; sisters, Darlene Wright and Janet (Wayne) Linker; grandchildren, Ryan Jordan and Amber Michelle Jordan; step-grandchildren, Michael Rust and Mikayla Rust; one niece; six nephews; and close friend, Jeremy (Brandi) McManus.

A graveside service in celebration of Larry's life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Carolina Memorial Park-Kannapolis, officiated by Rev. James Smith.  Larry will be laid to rest with military honors.
