Kirk Alan Aten, 58, of Locust, passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 at his home.

Kirk was born March 5, 1962 in Johnson City, New York to the late Alfred Calvin Aten and the late Ethel Louise Aten. He grew up in Glen Aubrey, New York.

Survivors include wife, Julia Aten of Locust; daughter Leah (Matt) Litaker of Hickory; sons, Bryant Morrissette and Ryan Morrissette, both of Locust, and Kody (Lindsey) Aten of Massachusetts; grandchildren Fenton Litaker, Karter Aten, Harlan Litaker, and Greyson Aten; sisters, Bonnie Utter of Locust, Terrie (Tim) Smacher of Myrtle Beach SC, Linda Fuller of Locust, and Wilma (Ed) Whitaker of Locust; and many nieces and nephews.

Kirk was a loving husband to his wife of 30 years. He worked for with Mecklenburg County for 18 years as a Code Enforcement Officer on the Special Projects Team. He was a loving father to his 4 children. His favorite job was being a “Papa” to his 4 grandsons. They did no wrong in his eyes. Kirk enjoyed spending time with friends and family making memories.  He was a very talented master carpenter. He will be deeply missed by so many.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm - 2:00pm, Saturday, January 16, 2021 at New Life Church, 157 Browns Hill Rd, Locust, NC 28097.  The funeral service will follow with Pastor Kody Aten officiating.
