Kevin Reynolds

August 22, 1957 — February 21, 2021

Harrisburg

Kevin Lee Reynolds of Harrisburg North Carolina, born August 22, 1957 to the late John and Esther Reynolds in Botetourt County, VA, died on February 21, 2021 at the age of 63.

With his passing, his beloved wife lost her best friend, the love of her life, her “Honey Pie”. They were married almost 23 years. They laughed, cried, crafted, and built a wonderful life together. He not only married her, but her children too, and was a great influence in all their lives. Kevin is survived by his wife, Sally Dannels Reynolds, his daughters, Amanda and Sara, his son Stephen, one brother, John Reynolds, three sisters, Vickie Tackett, Donna Higdon, and Deborah Jacobs, and many extended family members.

In mourning him, this poem gives his wife comfort:
When my time has come to leave this world and the chill of eternity blows away my birthdays and my future stands still in the night it’s your face, I want to kiss goodbye; it’s your hand I want to squeeze as I slip from time to eternity. As the curtain closes, on all I have attempted to do and be, I want to look into your eyes and see that I mattered; not what I look like, not what I did or even how talented I was; I want to look into the teary eyes of someone who loved me and see that I mattered.

Kevin served our country in the US Navy from 1975-1981 as a Sonar Technician First Class. After his service in the Navy, Kevin went on to work for Eastman Kodak until 1984, Fairchild Semiconductor until 1987, then Siemens Electronics until 1991. Kevin’s last position was at Philip Morris in Cabarrus County. It was here that he rounded out his successful career, retiring in 2001. He and his wife met in 1997, during his time working in this position, and started their lives together.

Kevin was a very gifted songwriter and guitar player, truly touching the soul of his wife and many others with his music. When his wife asked him to write her a song for their wedding, he did so in just 15 minutes. Their song was so funny it had all the church laughing. He named it “Crazy for You”.

Sharing the words to their song “Crazy for you” by Kevin Lee Reynolds, 1998:
You must be desperate
To fall in love with me
I’m not that good looking
Or make a lot of money

When I was young, I thought
The world would fall at my feet
Lord knows I was young and dumb
But you’ve got even me beat

****
Cause how in the world could you
As lovely as you are
Fall for a man like me
Who wishes upon the stars?
And when I wake up to see your smile
I can tell your love is true
I know you think I’m crazy
But I’m crazy for you.

Now I’ve been called a dreamer
More than a time or two
But never in my wildest dreams
I thought I’d find a woman like you

Someone who would love me
For just the man I am
I still think I’m dreamin’
Please pinch me again
****

The best that we can hope for
Is for a brand-new start
You promised me your love
I promised you my heart

And no matter where life takes us
If we walk hand in hand
We’ll come out the other side
Of this dreamland.
