Jerry Kenneth Baucom

Jerry "Kenneth" Baucom went to heaven peacefully from his home Thursday, February 6, 2020.


Mr. Baucom was born January 16, 1941 in Union County.  He was preceded in death by daughter, Wendy; parents, John Key and Lena Mae Baucom; brothers, Dwight, Arlie, Buren and Hubert Baucom; sister, Pat Deese.


He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Louise; sons, Darin and Gary (Jeanne) Baucom; daughter, Sherry (Thad) Preslar; grandchildren, Jessica, Anna, Avery, and Brooks Baucom, Kaylin and Clint Preslar, Bailee and Jacob Carter; sisters, Bonnie Greene and Belinda Deese.


Ken served his country as a Marine and later served as a deacon at Antioch Baptist Church where he was a member for over 50 years.  He loved playing baseball and church softball in his younger days.  He also loved working outdoors and was an avid gardener.


Ken was a loving husband and father who was always so proud of his family who supported him through his long illness.  He especially loved when his grandchildren  came to visit him with big hugs.


The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2020 at Antioch Baptist Church, 6223 Love Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110 with burial following in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the burial.


Memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607, Antioch Baptist Church, Hospice of Union County, 700 West Roosevelt Boulevard, Monroe, NC 28110 or the charity of your choice.
