George Ferguson

George Leon Ferguson, 76, of Charlotte, NC passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020 at his home.

Leon was born March 13, 1944 in Charlotte, NC to the late George Renfrow Ferguson and Annie Louise Keziah Ferguson.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm, Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Clear Creek Baptist Church, 9015 Ferguson Rd., Charlotte. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm in the church sanctuary, officiated by Rev. Homer Murdock and Rev. Donald Lisk. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.

Leon is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Sarah Lynn Privett Ferguson; son, Jimmy (Karen) Fergurson; daughter, Sherrie Ferguson; step-daughter, Betty (Mark) Dancy Timmons; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Leon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved gardening and sharing his vegetables with family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, spending time in the mountains, and camping. He also enjoyed working on Chevrolet engines and cars. Leon loved his church and his family. He was a 1962 graduate of East Mecklenburg High School, and retired as the Water Supervisor from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Utility Department.
