Connie Bruss

Connie “Ma” Bruss of Concord, NC, went to be with her Savior, on Monday, April 5th, 2021, at the age of 67. Connie was born in Waukegan, IL to Charles and Catherine (Handyside) Stried. She grew up in Zion, IL and traveled around the country with her parents and siblings enjoying camping and God’s creation. Connie gave her life to Jesus at a young age and served God her whole life. She married Bob Bruss (deceased) at 19 and had 3 children that she raised as a single mother. She taught her children how to have a relationship with Jesus and how to love those that God puts in your path. Connie loved to cook, was very artistic, and loved to have family gatherings.
In 1997 she moved to Pensacola, FL and served in ministry at the Brownsville Revival. She loved ministry students and became “Ma” to many. Connie was a woman of prayer and came alongside many ministries and pastors throughout the years. She was always involved in her community as she worked in local food pantries and fed many that were hungry. She helped to plant a church in Concord, NC, Antioch Community Church, where she ministered and loved all those around her.
Connie’s greatest joys were God and family. She leaves her three children Ryan (Megan) Bruss, Karl (Emma) Bruss and Christine (Mike) Cowen. Connie adored her grandchildren and spoke of them often. She leaves Rebecca (Owen) Bailey, Ellie Bruss, Abigail Cowen, Andrew Bruss, Meah Cowen, Katelyn Cowen, Ethan Bruss, and Noah Bruss. Connie also held close her sister-in-law Waiva, her nieces Cindy Graham and Dianna Stried (Tryad), nephew Roland Melander and great nieces Lora and Max, and Rhiannon Graham.
Connie leaves an incredible legacy that her family and friends will carry on.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, April 14th, 7pm, at Antioch Community Church, 361 Union Cemetery Rd. SW, Concord, NC 28027.
