Colon Tucker

Colon Carriker Tucker, 97, of Monroe, NC passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 18, 2021.

Ms. Tucker was born March 7, 1923 in Union County, NC to the late Barney Sylvan and Minnie Hinson Carriker.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by husband, James R. Tucker; daughter, Cheryl Taylor; son, Harlan Tucker; grandson, Brandon Logan Tucker; brothers, Biven Carriker and Sandy Carriker; and sister, Marie Brooks.

Survivors include son, Logan Tucker and wife Mildred; son, Eric Tucker and wife Janet; son-in-law, Dan Taylor; daughter-in-law, Becky Tucker; grandchildren, Monty Tucker and wife Tracy; Nikki Dorton and husband Ritchie; Samantha Carroll and husband Jayme; Remona Gearhart and husband Bob; Krystal Gillespie; Angie Eudy and husband Brian; Chris Hammonds and wife Ashley; 16 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren and one more due to be born on her birthday.

Ms. Tucker was self-employed as a hair dresser out of her house for many years serving the Fairview community.  She was a faithful member of Hopewell Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a long time member of WMU.  She loved gardening, canning and mountain trips with close friends.  A special thank you to Pastor Jim Couick and wife Carol for their committed friendship over the years.  Also, a special thank you to Hillcrest Baptist Rest Home Staff for all their care and compassion.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Mike Crook.  Ms. Tucker will be laid to rest at the Crooked Creek Primitive Baptist Cemetery at 7920 Crooked Creek Church Rd., Monroe.  The family will be gathering at the home of granddaughter Nikki Dorton.
