Clarence Manly Owen, Jr., 81, of Oakboro, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.

Clarence was born June 28, 1939 in North Carolina to the late Clarence Manly Owen Sr. and the late Ruby Ann Keith Owen.
He was also preceded in death by his sisters; Jean, Laura, and Martha.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by Rev. Kinney Wallace. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at the Locust United Methodist Church Cemetery at 125 Fairview St., Locust. Out of respect for the Owen family, masks are required during the visitation and services.

Survivors include wife, Barbara Morgan Owen of Oakboro, NC, daughter, Sheila (David) Allen, son, Kevin Morgan, grandchildren; Robbie (Jennifer) Nance, Jr., Ryan (Ashley) Nance, Jason Allen, Stacie Allen, Kevin (Skye) Morgan, Jr., Kristian Morgan, Kaitlyn Morgan and Karen Morgan and family, great-grandchildren; Drew, Aubrey, Emma, Payton, Sawyer, Mackenzie, Bryson, Graylnn, Kyndell, Isabella, Keatin, Railyn, Kasen, Mckinley, Gavin, Cooper, Zoe, and Shelby, and great-great-grandson, Mavrick.

Clarence was a paramedic for over 40 years, during which time he also volunteered for the Red Cross giving over 200 pints of blood to help those in need. He was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Oakboro, where he was a Deacon and taught Sunday School for the Men of God class. He also belonged to the Baptist Men's Association. As a young man, Clarence raced cars and won several trophies. He was also an avid golfer and even taught his grandchildren golf. Clarence was a brilliant man; he held two Masters degrees, one in Nursing from Catawba College Nursing School and one in Engineering from North Carolina State University, He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force. Most importantly, Clarence dearly loved the Lord, his wife, his family, and his furry family member, Simba.

Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross of Albemarle or Mineral Springs Baptist Church.
