Andrew Underwood

Andrew Stuart Underwood, 57, of Lincolnton, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Carolinas Medical Center Main in Charlotte, NC.

Andrew was born June 8, 1963 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late John Edward Underwood and the late Shirley Ledbetter Underwood.

He will lie in state from 9:30 am - 11:30 am, Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The graveside service will follow on Sunday at 1:00 pm at Stony Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery at 28996 Stony Hill Road, Albemarle, officiated by Rev. Wes Craven. The family request that anyone attending, please dress in casual or farm attire.

Survivors include wife, Rev. Sarah Cannon Underwood of Lincolnton, NC, son, Matthew (Sarah Cruthis) Underwood of Kannapolis, NC, daughter, Ashley Underwood of Lincolnton, NC, grandsons: Alexander and Jefferson Underwood, brother, Steve (Melanie) Underwood, sister, Patricia Underwood Wynne, and his "band of brothers": Mark Bearden, Paul "Chip" Chambers, and Todd McCraw.

Andrew was the PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) Manager for the 911 Center in Kings Mountain, NC. Formerly, he worked as a disc jockey for several radio stations and was a sales consultant for two-way radio systems. Andrew enjoyed beekeeping, tending the family farm in Stanly Co., NC, gardening, and spending time with his dogs. He was involved with Boy Scouts of America as a child and then later as a Scout Master. Andrew also took an active role in his wife's ministry with the United Methodist Church for over 30 years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or Pisgah United Methodist Church.
