Alice Brooks (Brooks) Biggers

1922 ~ 2021 (age 98)

Alice Brooks Biggers, 98, of Mint Hill, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Matthews Presbyterian in Matthews.

Alice was born October 11, 1922 in Allen Station, NC, to the late Brown Wilson Brooks and the late Grace Mae Allen Brooks.  She was also preceded in death by husband, Ted Howard Biggers, Sr.; daughter, Nancy Alice Biggers Whitlock; twin brother, William Allen Brooks; brother, Joseph Russell Brooks; sisters, Betty Brooks Helms and Shirley Jane Brooks.

Alice grew up in the Clear Creek Community, where she and her twin brother were inseparable.  Alice's fondest memories were roaming the farm, woods and hanging around the train tracks, where they would feed the "hobos" with food from their father's country store.  She attended Clear Creek School and graduated from Bethel High School with perfect attendance her whole school career.  She played basketball at Bethel school and also for the Cabarrus County All-Stars.  Alice met her future husband, Ted, when he was her school bus driver.  They were married in 1939.  Together, they lovingly raised four children on the west side of Charlotte, moving home to Mint Hill in 1989.  Alice was very active in the Ashley Park Community.  She loved her church, her flower garden, cooking, sports, being a Scout Leader and volunteering in many community activities, but her greatest love was her family and friends.

Survivors include daughter, Rebecca Biggers Lewis and husband, Michael, of Mint Hill; son, Ted Howard Biggers, Jr., and wife Elizabeth, of Mint Hill; son, Thomas Allen Biggers and wife, Cathy, of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Paul David Whitlock, Alexis Biggers Baker and husband, Brian, Alice Biggers Tejeda and husband, Kamel, and Ted Howard Biggers, III; great-grandson, Henry Phillip Baker; and sister, Sue Brooks Conner.

A memorial service in celebration of Alice's life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, Mint Hill.  The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service in the church Rotunda.  Alice was laid to rest during a private committal service at Dulin's Grove Church Cemetery, Mint Hill.
