Zebulon Thomas “Tommy” Gibson Jr.

Zebulon Thomas “Tommy” Gibson Jr., born September 7, 1952, in Laurinburg, North Carolina, to Edith “Polly” Gibson and Zebulon Gibson, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 12, 2026.

Tommy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest joy in life was his family. He took immense pride in his three sons and loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren. Known for his steady presence, warm spirit, and deep love for those closest to him, Tommy will be remembered for the way he cared for and supported his family throughout his life.

Tommy enjoyed a successful and extensive career with Alcoa. Through years of dedication and hard work, he built a respected career that continued well into his retirement, leaving a lasting impact on colleagues and friends he met along the way.

A proud alumnus and lifelong supporter of NC State University, Tommy was an enthusiastic member of the Wolfpack family. Whether watching games, talking sports, or cheering on the Pack, his loyalty and pride for NC State were always evident.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Edith “Polly” Gibson and Zebulon "Zeb" Gibson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debbe Gibson; his three sons, Trey Gibson (Kate), Jesse Gibson (Jessica), and Graham Gibson (Martha); his brother Michael (Lisa) and his seven beloved grandchildren, Ethan, Owen, Carter, Grayson, Emma, Evelyn, and Matthew, and an abundance of nieces and nephews that he loved so much.

The family will receive friends from 9:30am to 10:45am, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Central United Methodist Church in the fellowship hall, located at 172 N. Second Street, Albemarle NC. The funeral service will be held in the sanctuary at 11:00 am officiated by Rev. Dr. David Blankenberg.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the V Foundation for Cancer Research in Tommy’s memory.

Tommy’s love for his family and his enduring Wolfpack spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
