William "Bill" Ruby

William (Bill) Ruby of Harrisburg, passed away at the age of 76 on February 10, 2023.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, John Ruby and mother, Eleanor (Klombis) Ruby.

Originally from Chicago, Bill graduated from Brother Rice High School, and went on to earn a degree from Calumet College of Saint Joseph. He spent over 20 years as a successful sales executive at Matthews International and earned multiple Top Sales awards. Bill was always quick with a joke, a self-deprecating comment, or a snappy comeback. Those who knew him knew he was a survivor - falling off ladders, almost chopping his fingers off with a table saw, stopping muggings outside of Three Rivers Stadium, and interrupting a bank robbery, the latter of which earned him the key to the city of LaGrange, Georgia.

Bill loved his family and football, and loved nothing more than having his family together during the football season watching the Carolina Panthers or Chicago Bears.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Joyce (Drozd) Ruby; brother John Ruby; daughter Beth (Ruby) Kamp; son Michael Ruby; and grandchildren Jeremy and William Kamp, Michael Jr., Hank, and Trey Ruby.

Visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home, 13575 Broadway Ave., Midland, NC 28107, on Monday, February 13, 4:00-6:00 pm.
