William Mullis

William Hugh Mullis, 82 years of age, of Monroe, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at his home.
Mr. Mullis was born August 17, 1933 in Mecklenburg County to the late Luther William Mullis and the late Mary Zinc Haigler Mullis. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Paul, Ralph, Larry Wayne, and Boyce Mullis and sisters, Geraldean Mullis Smith and Loree Mullis Benton.
Our father built (or heavily assisted) building all his brother's and sister's houses. Once his children were grown, he built all three of them a home of their own, always saying that having a safe roof over your head and a warm meal in your stomach meant the world. He never turned away anyone that needed his help, or something built, even total strangers. There was never a better man.
The graveside service, officiated by Rev. Joe Mullis, will be at 2:30 pm Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd., Charlotte, NC 28227.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie Mae Mullis of the home; sons, Justin Scott Mullis and Darryl Leslie Mullis and daughter, Julie Kay Mullis Elkins, of all of Fairview; grandchildren, Joey and Jason Mullis, Brook Allman, Chelsea Goglio, Katie Mullis, Jacob Mullis, Brandie Elkins, and Jarrett Elkins; and great-grandchildren, Johnathan Mullis, Addison Mullis, Sadie Mullis, and Bently Hayes.
