William Honohan

William Joseph Honohan, 69 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle.

Bill was born August 4, 1945 in Bronx County, New York to the late Edgar Peter Honohan and the late Agnes Riley Honohan. He was also preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, December 15, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Tuesday at 11:00 am in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jeff Barbee. The burial will follow at Oakboro Cemetery, 1397 North Main Street, Oakboro. At other times the family will be gathering at the home.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alice Loretta Fagan Honohan of the home; son, Billy Honohan of Albemarle; daughter, Heather Smith and husband Toby of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, James and Breanna Honohan, and Zach and Zoe Smith; and sisters, Margaret Donohue and Helen McHugh, both of Florida.

Bill loved spending time with his grandchildren, who were his world. He also enjoyed cooking and reading.
