William "Bill" Fred Alexander Jr., 82, of Harrisburg, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
Bill was born October 28, 1943, in Durham, North Carolina, to the late William Fred Alexander Sr. and the late Iris Caroline Marrett Alexander. He was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Joy Lynnette Alexander; and brother, Robert Earle Alexander.
Bill was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served during the Vietnam War. He worked at Southern Bell for 20 years and tuned pianos for 25 years. Bill was a member of Rocky River Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed cooking, especially grits for the Men's Breakfast at church. He also enjoyed photography and traveling to Scotland and throughout the United States, especially out west. Most of all, Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be forever loved and greatly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Julia Richie Alexander; beloved daughter, Amy Alexander Freeman and husband, Keith; grandsons, Alex Freeman, Rien Freeman and fiancé, Kinsey; sister, Carol Lyerly and husband, Jim; along with many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 am - 10:45 am, Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Rocky River Presbyterian Church in the Fellowship Hall. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am in the church sanctuary, officiated by Rev. Neal Carter and Rev. Neil Cochran. Bill will be laid to rest with military honors in the church cemetery.
