Walter Boyce Turner, 85 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 at CMC-Union in Monroe.

Boyce was born October 26, 1929 in Stanly County to the late Homer Jackson Turner and the late Mamie Miranda Baucom Turner. He was also preceded in death by wife, Dorothy Greene Turner in 2003.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM, Friday, August 28, 2015 at Antioch Baptist Church, 6223 Love Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110. The funeral service officiated by Rev. George Gouge and Rev. Joey Query will follow at 3:00 PM, Friday, August 28, 2015. Burial will be in the church cemetery with full military honors being conducted by the Stanly County DAV. At other times the family will receive friends at the home on Wyatt Road in Albemarle.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel Kepley Turner of Albemarle; daughters, Sheila Pierce and husband, Joseph, Amy Turner, and Monica Kiker and husband, Glen all of Stanfield; grandson, Clint Kiker; stepdaughter, Cheryl Bennett; stepsons, Daniel P. Collins and wife Patricia, and David Collins; seven step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; and one step great great-grandchild.

Boyce proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a graduate of NC State with a degree in Animal Husbandry. He was a rural letter carrier and a farmer and an active church member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as deacon and taught Sunday School most of his life.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church, 6223 Love Mill Rd., Monroe, NC 28110.
