Walter Curtis Hinson passed away on Friday, June 27th in Belmont, NC. Walter was born in Stanly County on November 17th, 1930, to Lee & Beluah Farmer Hinson.
He lived his youth in Albemarle moving to Belmont at 15. It was there he met his wife, Alice White. They were married in 1951 until her death in 2012. Walter was predeceased by his siblings, Pauline, Lee, Lillian and Harold as well as his son, Stephen C Hinson and granddaughter Jennifer Wiggins.
Walter is survived by his six daughters: Belinda (Thomas) Barnes, Pamela (Joseph) Jenkins, Judy (Randy) Morris, Janice (Glenn) Sawyer, Rhonda (Johnny) Smith and Stephanie (David) Jacky. In addition, he is survived by 21 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
Walter lived in Albemarle from 1970 until 2008. During this time, he worked for Wiscasset Mills where he retired in 1992. After retirement, he enjoyed the life of a farmer working the land gardening and taking care of animals while spending his days outside.
In 2008, Walter & Alice relocated to Belmont to be closer to their children where they enjoyed impromptu visits, meals and lots of laughter. After Alice’s death he spent countless hours playing cards with the family. His favorite expression when having the family gathered was outstretching his arms saying, “I did all this”.
The visitation will be held on Saturday, July 5th at Hartsell Funeral Home Albemarle at 12:00 with funeral service to follow at 1:00 at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel.
