Vivian Lefler

October 24, 1927 — November 23, 2014

Vivian Gaynell Lefler passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014 in the presence of her loving family at the age of 87.

Gaynell and her late husband, Norman, were known for their Sno-Queen trucks and trailers which they operated together for decades, selling sno-cones, cotton candy, and candy apples to generations of Cabarrus County children. Located next to the carousel on the midway for over 40 years, they were a staple at the Cabarrus County Fair. Their trucks could also be seen and heard all summer throughout local neighborhoods.

Always active, she race-walked miles daily and was an avid dancer. As a member of the Silver Liners, she enjoyed line-dancing, tap dancing, and cheerleading where she performed at local events and competitions well into her 80's. She competed yearly in the Senior Games and was awarded a variety of medals in each of her events and often qualified for state level of competition.

Born and raised in Cabarrus County, she was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Concord and worked at Cannon Mills Plant 10 until retirement.

Her fun-loving nature is captured in hundreds of family photos where she often put on a silly face for the camera while making cotton candy, playing on the beach or enjoying her children or grandchildren. She truly loved life and lived for her family. She was happiest when all her children and grandchildren were together.

Mrs. Lefler was born in Cabarrus County to the late Jonah Allen Sells and the late Lucille V Sells Hines. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Norman Little Lefler and sister, Doris Sells.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will follow on Tuesday at 3:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord. Burial will follow at the Cabarrus Memorial Gardens.

She is survived by her two daughters, Pat Castor Rodgers and husband Paul and Tammy Linn and husband Ron; four grandchildren, Kim Jacobs and husband David, Wendy Warner and husband Jerehmy, Austin Linn and Madison Linn; four great grandchildren, Justin Hinson, Jessica Hinson, Jacob Warner and Alyssa Warner.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Charlotte 1420 E. 7th St. Charlotte, NC 28204.
