Vivian Alene Brooks of Midland, North Carolina, passed away on June 4, 2025 at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was 94 years old.
She was born in Midland, N.C., April 27, 1931. Vivian was the daughter of the late Edward and Grace Wallace. Vivian was a lifetime resident of the area, and the oldest of four children. She worked as a receptionist and switchboard operator for Mack Truck Company, along with Charlotte Aircraft Company. She later worked as a surgical technician for Charlotte Memorial Hospital.
Vivian lived a beautiful life married to her high school sweetheart Henry Brooks and together they had four children Debbie (Kermit) Poovey, Leland Brooks, Leslie Brooks, and Daina (Monte) Harwell.
Vivian was crowned Miss Bethel High in 1948 for her beauty and grace which was extended to each and every one she met. She has forever left a mark on the community and small town that she helped to grow. To know Vivian was to love her and her sweet, beautiful smile. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, especially her 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now reunited with the love of her life Henry and other family members who proceeded her in death, in a place of love and peace, surrounded by God’s light and grace in heaven.
Survivors include one brother Steve Wallace, her four children, nine grandchildren, Regina Gray, Trudy Donelson, Rebekah Dean, Aaron Edwards, Brenten Brooks, Jennifer Tice, David Harwell, and Morgan Brooks, along with their spouses, eighteen great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Henry, two brothers Ronald and Westly Wallace, and grandson Robbie Hudspeth.
Vivian’s family invites those who loved and adored her to a graveside service at Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill, N.C., on Monday June 9, 2025, at 12pm. Reverend Thomas Gibbs will preside over the service.
