Virginia Thomas

Virginia Ruth Thomas, 60, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Atrium Health Stanly Hospital in Albemarle.

Ruth was born July 26, 1962 in North Carolina to the late Mac Watson Thomas and the late Virginia McLaurin Thomas.

A graveside service will be on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Stanly Gardens of Memory in Albemarle officiated by Pastor Kevin McCormac.

Ruth was a kind-hearted soul who loved animals and enjoyed taking care of them.  Some of her favorite pastimes included riding with her dogs on her golf cart and just taking joy rides.  Ruth loved her nephews with all her heart and would take them to their sporting events, after which, she would take them to get ice cream.  Ruth never met a stranger and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include sister, Maxine (Bobby) Barnes of New London, NC; nephews, Kenny Barnes of Davidson, NC, and Robby (Taylor) Barnes of Landis, NC; great-niece Emma Barnes of Landis, NC; and aunt, Faye Treadaway of Morven, NC.

Donations may be made to your local animal shelter and to Bethel United Methodist Church of New London.
