Virginia "Bernice" Owens, 79 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Trinity Place in Albemarle.
Virginia was born September 5, 1935 in Richmond County to the late Johnny Thomas Atkinson and the late Virginia Grace McLendon. She was also preceded in death by husband, Robert Paul Owens; grandson, Brent Byrd; and sister, Della Hathcock.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 3:00 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel.
Survivors include daughter, Deborah (Rick) Morris of Bladenboro, NC; son, Robert W. (Evelyn) Byrd of Spartanburg, SC; granddaughter, Kelly (Jamie) Barnes of Myrtle Beach, SC; granddaughter, Heather (Terry) Bowers of Albemarle; great-granddaughter, Abby Blasingame of Spartanburg; SC; brother-in-law, John L. Hathcock, Jr. of Albemarle; and close friend, Kay Powell of Albemarle.
