Virginia Smith Huneycutt, 98 years of age from Oakboro, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012 in Stanly Regional Medical Center of Albemarle. Mrs. Huneycutt was born December 12, 1913 in Anson County to the late Grover Cleveland Smith and Milie Curlee Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred A. Huneycutt in 1987; her daughter, Evelyn Hepler; her brothers, Grover C. “Junior†Smith, Harvey, Bennett, and Joe Smith; and her sisters, Marie Little, Nell Poplin, Edna Poplin, and Faye Burris. She retired as a sales clerk from Roses in Albemarle. The graveside service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church, 20415 Hwy. 24/27 West, Oakboro, officiated by Elder Bob Grover. Friends may drop by Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle anytime after noon on Tuesday to pay their respects. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Pressler and her husband Butch of Oakboro; one brother Jack Smith of Bristol, TN; her grandchildren, Renee Ridenhour of Mocksville, Toby Ridenhour and his wife, Kathy, of Troy, S. C., and Maria P. Andrews and her husband, Will, of Oakboro; two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
