Dea. Viola Gross
Jesus said to him, I am the ressurection and the life. He who believes in me will live even though he dies and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this.” St. John 11:25-26
Viola Gross entered this world on December 8, 1940, in Kittrell N C to the late Thomas and Thelma Harvell. The family resided in Hyattsville MD. Viola made her peaceful transition to her eternal home on Thursday March 26, 2026
Viola attended the public school systems of Bladensburg and Fairmont Heights. She fell in love with her true Soul Mate; Alphonso Gross and for 64 years and 10 months their bond never waivered. She was a devoted wife and mother to her only child Robert. For many years Viola was a stay at home Mom, loving to sew and cook in the Kitchen where she stayed all the Time. Until she decided to take employment with Hecht’s department stores then she took employment with District Photo as an Accountant until her retirement, However Viola’s true dedication was to her Church. Along side her husband the dynamic duo put all of their trust in Jesus.
Viola was a dedicated member and sister who served many roles in the history of St Paul Church. She was first and foremost a Deacon along side her husband, she was reader of scripture for Rev Barkley Cross who was blind. Viola was an Accountant for the church along with being a sunday school teacher. Viola along with her husband would go throughout the DMV serving Communion and just checking on members who would be unable to make services due to illnesses.
Viola Gross was the true definition of a Virtuous woman of God Proverbs 31:10-31
Dea. Viola Gross was preceded in Death by her husband Dea. Alphonso Gross and her 2 sisters, Frances Harvell and Amy Christine Knox Dea Viola Gross has gone from Labor to reward and leaves to mourn her only son Dea. Robert N Gross Sr. and Daughter - in - Law Missionary Vanita J Gross; 5 Grandchildren, Robert N Gross Jr., Rasheika (Ronald) Cain, Le’Nita Johnson, Ja’Loni Johnson and Vicktoria Gross; 13- great-grandchildren; 2 Brother-in-Laws, Orlandus (Shirley) Gross and George Gross; 2 Sisters-in-Laws, Regina Deal and Dea. Marjorie Gross; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family, and her very special best friend Joyce Maxwell.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Gross family.
