Verna Hinson

Verna Maude Helms Hinson, 97 years of age, of Locust, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013 at her home. Verna was born September 20, 1915 in Stanfield, NC to the late James Lester Helms and the late Mettie Morgan Helms. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Jackson Hinson, Sr.; and son, Wayne Hinson. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Locust. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm in the sanctuary, with Dr. Tommy Ross officiating. The burial will be in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will be meeting at the home. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Efird and husband Lawrence of Locust, and Kathy Smith and husband Hayne of Locust; son, Paul Hinson and wife Patricia of Finger; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; one great great great grandchild.
