Vergie Barbee

Vergie Caroline Barbee, 96 years of age, of New London, passed away Monday, February 1, 2016 at Trinity Place in Albemarle.

Mrs. Barbee was born November 26, 1919 in Anson County to the late Homer Clarence Crowell and Vera Mae Crowell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Filmore Barbee and three sisters, Mattie Crowell, Onnie Chance, and Lessie Rummage, and step son Ralph Barbee and wife Betty.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 3:00 PM at New Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church at 40237 Millingport Road in Richfield officiated by Rev Leslie Wray. Burial will follow in the church cemetery .

Survivors include son, Douglas M. Burleson and wife Della of Albemarle, daughter, Julia Ann Ridenhour and husband Clyde of New London, step son, Melvin Barbee and wife Madene of Albemarle, brother, Clarence Allen Crowell and wife Doris of Albemarle, grandchildren, Terri Burleson Stallings (Craig), Tevis Burleson, Tracy Burleson McPherson (Joel), and Joy Ridenhour Brown (Robert), great grandchildren, Seth, Michele, Erica, Adam, Josh, Pressley, Caroline, Lauren, Melissa, Kacie and Katyln, and great great grandchildren, Jayden, Cali and Kaiden.
