Veda Anderson

Veda Mae Carpenter Anderson, 94, of Albemarle, formerly of Big Lick Road, Oakboro, NC, passed away Friday, September 6, 2013 at Stanly Manor in Albemarle. Born July 28, 1919 in Anson County, she was the daughter of the late Alexander Crump "Bud" Carpenter and the late Sophronia Curlee Carpenter. She married Billie Adam Anderson on August 6, 1938, who preceded her in death in 1986. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Wyndola Godwin; seven brothers, Crump, Giff, William, Benton, Boyd, Vance and Walter Carpenter; three sisters, Blanche Baucom, Gena Lee Williams and Louise Boring. She was a charter member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service officiated by Rev. Rick Thomas will be Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 4:00 PM in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Smith's Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. She is survived by four sons, Henry Anderson and wife, Lynette of Oakboro, Fred Anderson and wife, Edith of Kernersville, David Anderson and wife, Diane of Albemarle and Adam Anderson and wife, Kathy of Stanfield; three daughters, Janice Williams of Stanfield, Geneva Austin and husband, Jerry of Granite Quarry and Hazel Palmer and husband, Randy of Albemarle; thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
