Tony Reece Smith

July 26, 1957 — August 19, 2023

Locust, NC

Tony "Pop" Reece Smith, 66, of Locust, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Tony was born July 26, 1957 in Stanly County, North Carolina to the late Ransom Reece Smith and the late Ruby Arleen Smith.

Tony was a very simple man, who had a love for many things in life, but above all, he had a strong love for his family and especially his grand babies. His grandchildren were his reason to continue fighting his battle with cancer and his reason to get out of bed everyday. Tony enjoyed being at the round table, at the shop, with his work family. He also enjoyed being "captain" of the family boat, where many memories were made. Tony will be sorely missed by all that had the opportunity to know him, as he made such an impact on so many people's lives. He was a true legacy and was a true blessing to his family and friends life.

The memorial service will be on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023 at 2:00 pm at New Life Church in Locust officiated by Pastor Brandon Bowers. The celebration of life will follow after the service.

Survivors include wife of 44 years, Kathy Smith of Locust, NC; son, Cody Smith and wife Carolyn; daughter, Jerika Smith Whitley and husband Casey; brother, Brian Smith and wife, Penny; his most prized possessions, his grandchildren; Savy, Sage, Gray, Vaylor, and Vallyn.
