Susan Gibson

Mary "Susan" Allen Gibson, 71 years of age, of Stanfield, NC, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Carolinas Medical Center Northeast.

Susan was born August 10, 1944 in Johnston County, NC to the late Mary Edna Ryals and Fred Arthur Allen. She is survived by her husband, Reece Gibson of Stanfield, his 4 children, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild; son, John Craig Ellis of Clayton, NC, his fiancé Jenny Carroll; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Ellis Driver of Clayton, NC; grandchildren, John Craig Ellis II, and Olivia Caroline Driver; and 1 sister, Linda Holmes, of Tucker, Georgia.

Susan moved to Charlotte area in the 80s, where she met Reece, and later moved to Stanfield after they were married in 2003. In her professional life she was a Bankruptcy Analyst for the federal government, but her true passion in life was antiques. She enjoyed buying and selling items at her booth in The Depot at Gibson Mill. She also loved to sew, and made beautiful scarves, pillows, and other home décor items, which she sold under the brand name Ella Jane. Her artistic flair was seen in many hobbies, including painting, embroidery, and decorating. As a true southern belle, she also loved to cook and entertain, with good old "country cooking," gardening, and canning.

A family visitation service will be held at Bethel United Methodist Church, in Midland, NC, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, on Thursday, February 25, 2016. The memorial service will also take place at Bethel United Methodist Church at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 26, 2016.

It was Susan's wish to be buried in her hometown of Benson, NC, with her mother and father. There will be a graveside service at Rose Lawn Cemetery, off North Wall Street, US Highway 301, in Benson, NC, at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 27, 2016.

All three services will be officiated by Reverend Mark Clontz, of Bethel United Methodist Church.
