Susan was born February 21, 1950, in Massachusetts to the late Wayne B. Gates and the late Lillian Gates. She was also preceded in death by husband, William Arthur Clay.
A memorial service will be held by her family at a later date.
Survivors include son, Ronald Blanchard of New London, NC, and daughter, Rose Blanchard of New London, NC.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Clay family.
