Dale Starnes

Stephen “Dale” Starnes Sr., 67, of New London, NC died as a result of his injuries in a motor vehicle accident Saturday, May 3, 2025. Dale was born on November 4, 1957 to Luther Triplette Starnes and Sarah Allman Starnes of Concord, NC.

Dale attended Northwest Cabarrus High School followed by a long tenure as a truck driver; he was an owner-operator for many years. He had a love of strong coffee, NASCAR, and always had a bag of candy to share when visiting his grandchildren.

Dale was preceded in death by both parents. He is survived by his son Stephen Starnes Jr, wife Leigh of Jacksonville, FL; and daughter Morgan Roman, husband Edwin of Concord, NC. He is also survived by sisters Debbie Plummer, husband Rick; Sandy Hicks, partner Kelly; brothers Ronnie Starnes, wife Sabrina; and Mark Starnes, wife Susan. Also surviving are four grandchildren Emma, Paul, Hunter, and Benjamin.

Dale was blessed to have uncles Jim Allman, Sam Allman, George Starnes, and aunts Mary Katherine Helms and Tommie Allman still living along with a multitude of cousins, nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.

The family would also like to thank his neighbors Larry & Karen Nash and Travis Kennedy for their love and support for Dale.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm-2:00pm, Monday, May 12, 2025 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will follow Monday, May 12, 2025 at 2:00pm in the Miller J. Hartsell Chapel. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Kannapolis located at 601 Mt. Olivet Road, Concord, NC 28025.
