Stephen Hughes Hill passed away peacefully at home on June 7, 2026, at the age of 83.

He was born on September 30, 1942, in Albemarle, NC to Jehu F. Hill and Maggie A. Hill. He is a graduate of North Carolina State University and a member of Theta Tau Engineering Fraternity.

Steve had an extensive professional career as an Executive Vice President managing industrial manufacturing operations in companies, such as, Collins and Aikman, Black and Decker, Hackney and Sons, Hamilton Beach/Procter Silex, and Borg Warner. He also believed in serving his community through United Way and prisoner rehabilitation charities. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC and also sang in the church choir. Throughout his life, Steve was an avid fisherman, animal lover, and a dedicated family man.

Celebration of life will be a Graveside service, Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 2:00, at Fairview Memorial Park, Albemarle, North Carolina, officiated by Rev. Don Burleyson.

Steve is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth (Betsy) Kidd Hill of Indian Land, SC, and his two daughters, Ruth Hill of Waxhaw, NC, and Elizabeth (Beth) Hill (spouse Chris Sartin) of Lancaster, SC; as well as his granddaughter Megan Clayton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to no-kill animal shelters, such as, the Humane Society of Charlotte, NC (https://humanesocietyofcharlotte.org).

Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Hill family.
