In Loving Memory of Soua G. Xiong
October 10, 1962 – October 11, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Soua G. Xiong on Sunday, October 11, 2026.
Soua was born on October 10, 1962, in Laos, the eldest son of Txiaj Looj Xyooj and True Vang. Soua grew up with siblings Ker X. Vang, Nancy Zoua X. Chang, Houa X. Vang, Victor Tswv Ntaj Xiong, Chong Xiong, Pai X. Moua, Mai X. Chang, Kha Xiong, and Kia X. Yang. In 1980, at just 17 years old, Soua and his brother Victor came to America with hope for a new beginning and the opportunity to build a better life away from the hardships of war.
Soua’s American dream was never only for himself. His greatest hope was to see his family reunited in America. That dream came true in 1986 when his mother and siblings joined him in the United States.
With his family reunited, Soua dreamed of starting a family of his own. In 1992, he met Diane Thomas in California, and they married later that year. Together, they built a life and raised four daughters: Michelle, Abigail, Brandie, and Cassidy. Above all else, Soua loved and cherished his family.
Soua also had a lifelong love for soccer. He enjoyed playing, organizing soccer events, and forming friendships through the game. Those who knew him knew how much he looked forward to every World Cup and the joy soccer brought into his life.
Soua will be remembered as a loving husband and father, a devoted son and brother, and a man whose life was shaped by family, perseverance, friendship, and hope. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
Soua is survived by his beloved wife, Diane, and his four daughters, Michelle, Abigail, Brandie, and Cassidy.
