Shirley Stancil

Shirley Ann Ruppe Stancil, 85, of Concord, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord.

Mrs. Stancil was born October 11, 1937 in Cliffside, North Carolina to the late Hubert LeRoy Ruppe and the late Phrynia Ellis Ruppe.
Shirley was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Curtis Stancil.

Shirley was a 1956 graduate of Cliffside High School in Cliffside, NC. She loved music, especially jazz, and was an avid pianist. She retired from First Charter (Concord National) Bank after more than 30 years of service. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The service will follow in the Miller J. Hartsell Chapel at 2:00 pm and be officiated by, Pastor Aaron Edwards from First Baptist. Burial will follow at the Cabarrus Memorial Gardens at 3892 Hwy 73 Concord.

Survivors include son, Paul David Stancil (Vicky) of Chapel Hill; daughter, Julia Lynn Thompson (Jeff) of Kannapolis, NC, son, Jonathan LeRoy Stancil (Tammy) of Greensboro, NC and Scott Alan Stancil of Durham; Also surviving are brothers, Jerry Ruppe of Boydton, VA and James Ruppe of Rutherfordton, NC; grandchildren, Chance Thompson, Hunter Thompson, Travis Thompson and Evan Stancil, along with four great-grandchildren.
