Shirley Reed Newell, 79, of Concord, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017, at CHS NE in Concord.
Shirley was born March 11, 1937, in Union County to the late Dawson Byrom Haywood and the late Bertie Mae Haywood. She was also preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church, 2817 Mt. Harmony Church Road, Matthews, NC. The Rev. Jim Church will officiate.
Shirley was a long time member of Roberta United Methodist Church in Concord. She was the sweetest soul you could ever hope to meet and was a perpetually happy person.
Survivors include niece Cathy (David) Buck of Concord; great niece, Austin (Randy) Determan of Harrisburg; great nephew, Matt Buck of Columbia, SC; sister, Etta Mae Robinson of Indian Trail.
