Shelby Jean Curlee

Shelby Jean Curlee, 88, of Oakboro, passed away Friday, July 17, 2026, at Stanly Manor in Albemarle.

Shelby was born June 26, 1938, in North Carolina to the late Clyde James Hinson and the late Fronia Ramelle Hinson. She was also preceded in death by husband, Cecil Kent Curlee, brother, Keith Hinson, Jr., sister, Virginia Smith.

Shelby was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. In her spare time she enjoyed painting, crafting and decorating.

The funeral service will be at 2pm of Friday, July 24, 2026, at Hartsell Funeral Home in the Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by Dr. Shad Hicks. Burial will follow at the Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery at 20741 Union Grove Road, Albemarle.

Survivors include daughter, Pamela Jeanine Curlee (Jeff Branch), son, Jody Kent (Tara ) Curlee, grandsons; Matthew (Stephaine) Treece, Cody (Chelsea) Treece, Darrian (Stephaine) Huneycutt; great- grandchildren; Whitley Treece, Hollis Treece, Pierson Treece, Daxton Huneycutt and Ayla Huneycutt and her special grand dog Scooter.
