Biography Ms. Sharron Elaine Newman of Midland died on November 10, 2015 at her home.
She was born November 2, 1941 in Spartanburg, SC. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Lee Hattaway and Ida Mae Hattaway. Ms. Newman was also preceded in death by her sister Vernelle Leatherman; two brothers, Tuggie Hattaway and Harold Hattaway; grandson, Derrick Traweek; and brother-in-law, Ray Johnson.
Ms. Newman was a member of United Love Baptist Church in Midland. She recently worked at Dunkin Doughnuts in Midland. She would be best remembered as a manager at Shoney’s.
She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Resch and husband, Pete, Gina Young and husband, Bruce and Karen Traweek and husband, Vann; two sisters, Carol Johnson and Dorothy Wimmer and husband, Russell; one brother, Butch Hattaway and wife, Cuba; grandchildren, David Martin and wife, Annaliese, Michelle Dustin and husband, Paul, Stephanie Young, Travis Young, Amber Traweek and Heather Traweek; and eight great-grandchildren, Davin, Kyndal, Landon, Declan, Braydon, Hunter, Ethan and Savyn.
Elaine was an amazing woman, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She never met a stranger and would enjoy discussing the latest sports scores and stats. She had a sharp memory and never forgot a date. “Mawmaw” loved collecting angels and she was truly an angel here on earth watching all of her family and friends. Mawmaw had a strong faith and trusted God in everything she did. You could always find Mawmaw with a Pepsi in hand. She was a hard worker all her life and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mawmaw was an inspiration and everyone who met her was blessed.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at United Love Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by Rev. Marvin Tyson and Rev. Russell Wimmer at 11 a.m. Burial will immediately follow in the cemetery at the church.
