Sharon Jo Showmar

Sharon Jo Showmar, 80, of Concord, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2026 at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord.

Showmar was born July 18, 1946 in New York to the late Joseph T. Showmar and the late Leona S Showmar.

Some people leave behind a legacy measured in accomplishments. Others leave behind something even greater - a home filled with love, traditions, unforgettable stories, and a family forever shaped by their love. Sharon Showmar was one of those people. She was the heart and backbone of her family. She loved fiercely, spoke honestly, and never hesitated to tell you exactly what she thought. Beneath that unmistakable strength was an unwavering love and steadfast support for the people she held dear. If you were lucky enough to be loved by Sharon, you never had to wonder where you stood. She was a true character easily described as a pistol with a quick wit, a contagious laugh, and a knack for delivering one-liners that no one ever forgot. She loved to dress beautifully, took pride in her work throughout the years, and embraced life with a spirit that was uniquely her own.

Home was Sharon’s favorite place, especially when it was filled with the people she loved most. On beautiful days, you could often find her relaxing on the porch, admiring the flowers she had nurtured or tending to her garden. She found joy in growing things, whether it was blooming flowers or the family traditions she lovingly cultivated over the years. Sharon loved to cook, and no one ever left her table hungry. Some of life’s sweetest memories were made gathered around her table, where there was always enough food to feed an army, plenty of laughter, and the comforting feeling that everyone belonged. Those moments, filled with stories, jokes, and togetherness became treasured memories that her family and friends will carry forever.

She was the proud mother of Todd and Shannon and adored her grandchildren, who were truly the lights of her life. She never wanted to miss a birthday, a celebration, a milestone, or simply an opportunity to show up for the people she loved. The family is especially grateful for the quiet acts of love, compassion, and devoted care that surrounded Sharon throughout her later years. Those selfless gifts of time, presence, and unwavering support brought her comfort and dignity and will always be remembered with deep gratitude. They are also thankful for the love and steadfast support of Sharon’s siblings, especially her brothers and sister-in-law, whose kindness means so much to the family.

While her absence leaves an immeasurable void, Sharon’s legacy lives on in every family gathering, every shared recipe, every blooming flower, every laugh sparked by one of her unforgettable stories, and every memory that reminds those who loved her that she is never truly gone. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered always.

True to Sharon’s independent spirit, she requested there be no formal funeral service, and her family wishes to honor that request. A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at a later date to celebrate the remarkable woman whose love will continue to bring her family together. When those plans have been finalized, the family will extend personal invitations with the details.
