Sharon Blackwelder

Sharon Sue Casey Blackwelder, of Concord NC passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Matthews Novant hospital in Matthews, NC.

Sharon was born July 15, 1946, in Wichita Kansas to Archie Donald and Minnie Roseva Casey. Sharon was preceded in death by both Archie and Minnie and her late husband Von Stephen Blackwelder.

Sharon graduated from Wichita East High School, where she then began working at Beach aircraft. Years later she relocated to Austin, Texas where she worked as a legal secretary and loved the competition playing Tennis and Soccer provided. Sharon became a real estate agent in Austin and later a mortgage lender which she continued upon her move to Charlotte in 1987. She then met Steve Blackwelder of Concord NC, through their church group, and eventually married. They were married 33 years before Steve's passing. Sharon was a devoted wife and successful mortgage lender and was a passionate witness for Christ and loved caring for those closest to her. Sharon was an advocate for life and volunteered for over a decade at Crisis Pregnancy Centers. She spent the last quarter of her life caring for those she loved and as a member of Westford Methodist Church. She will be remembered by all those she cared for as a devoted friend and mother. She’ll be missed by many.

Sharon was survived by her brother Rick Casey, sister Donna (Bryan) Quiggle both of Wichita KS, her two sons and their wives, Jeff and Lolita Smith of Charlotte NC, Kevin and Heather Burroughs of Chicago IL. She was also a grandmother to six grandchildren Derek, Stephanie, Allison, Darby, Courtney and Kade and Great Grandmother of two, Madden and Conrad as well as several special Nieces and Nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00- 1:45 pm Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Westford Methodist Church, 273 State Hwy 49, Concord. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at Westford Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Jeffrey J. Rushing and Pastor Burton Robinson.  Interment will follow at Roberta Church Cemetery in Concord.
