Ruth Evelyn Baucom Smith, Age 89 of 449 E.First St., Oakboro, NC 28129, passed away on February 08, 2010. Born in Wilson, NC on June 13, 1920. Ruth Evelyn Baucom Smith was preceded in death by husband – Crowell John Smith in 2000, her mother Bessie Mae Howard Baucom , her father Spurgeon Daniel Baucom. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Oakboro The family will meet at her home. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 from 06:00 PM 08:00 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home Albemarle. Funeral service will held on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 02:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Oakboro, with the ministers Dr. Rev. Terrell Watts, Associate Pastor Chip Alsobrook officiating. Burial will follow at Oakboro Cemetery She was survived by her Daughters Judy Smith Moseley of Raleigh NC, Cynthia Smith and husband Richard Cahill of Raleigh, NC. her sons Alan Smith and wife Freda of Charlotte NC, Mark Smith and wife Kay of Oakboro NC, her grandchildren Angela Ostendarp, Zachary Smith, Cary Moseley, Meredith Chisholm, Brandy Laakso, Mandy Smith, Cody Smith, her sister Julia Ann Bowers of Polkton NC, her brothers Cary Baucom of Charlotte NC, Don Baucom of Charlotte NC, her 6 great-grandchildren.
