Rufus Newton

Rufus Earl Newton, 90, passed away Friday, January 3, 2014 at CMC NorthEast in Concord. Mr. Newton was born November 14, 1923 to the late Julius and Milam Newton. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by Lessie (Pat) his loving wife of 73 years and his beloved grandson, Eric Earl Blackwell. The family will receive friends at New Hope Worship Center, 452 Brookwood Ave. NE, Concord, NC on Sunday, January 5, 2013 from 1:00 pm until 2:00pm. The funeral service will follow. Burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Concord. He is survived by a daughter, Linda Blackwell and husband Ed of Concord; a son, Rev. Tim Newton and wife Rayotta of COncord; three grandchildren, Vince Blackwell and wife Ann, Timothy Newton and wife Rene and Andrea Burleson and husband Gabe and eight great grandchildren. Hartsell Funeral Home is serving the Newton family.
