Ruby Whitley

Ruby Irene Floyd Whitley, 76, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at her home in Midland. Mrs. Whitley was born January 4, 1937 in Union County to the late Daniel Alexander Floyd and Della Jane Hinson Floyd. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin Whitley in 1996. The family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8 p.m., Monday, April 8, 2013 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service will be at 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2013 with a 30 minute state prior to the service, at First Baptist Church, 4720 Garmon Mill Road, Midland. Rev. Tom Gibbs will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will meet at the home of her niece Elizabeth Sehorn at 2693 Cold Springs Road East in Concord. Survivors include her brother, Harold Floyd of Oakboro; her sisters, Nancy Kearns of Midland, Jeanie Floyd of Stanfield, Mary Barbee of Concord, and Flossie Passmore of Harrisburg; five nieces; four nephews; and special friends, Mike and Beth Tallent and their children, Jessica and Jacob. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 4720 Garmon Mill Road, Midland, NC 28107. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Whitley family.
